Putin says no plans to leave power

He's not going anywhere.  In fact, he really hasn't left office at all.  He is a Stalinist.  And a violent and dangerous one as well.
Putin, 57, also said he "will think about" taking part in the 2012 presidential election, when many Russians expect him to return to the Kremlin for a six-year term.
What does that mean for the rest of us?  Well, it means arms facilities in Venezuela, and it means more support for Iran.

Russia has no evidence that Iran is trying to build a nuclear weapon, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

"We have no information that Iran is working on the creation of a nuclear weapon," Putin said when asked by a reporter if Iran was close to making an atomic bomb.

When asked if Russia would support international sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Putin declined to answer.
